How To Series: Making Leadership More Inclusive

For the first time today I looked back and reviewed all of the entries of this blog. I like what I have thus far, but the events of my life took the blog in a different direction than I intended when I first began. My two entries set the stage to explore the depth of my realizations around making leadership more inclusive. It was the theme that brought my somewhat disjointed philosophies and interests together. My intention was to go right into it, but other events took precedence and I haven't really gotten back since.

Well...I'm going to change all of that. In an effort to take this blog more seriously and turn it into something that could help take this concept into new and exciting directions, I am going to get back to the core of what motivated the start of this thing. Just recently, I submitted a program proposal to the Wisconsin College Personnel Association (WCPA) conference chairs to do a session entitled "Making Leadership More Inclusive". I have presented at WCPA many times, but I don't think I have been this excited to present something in a long time. The program isn't ready to go, but I discovered today looking through some presentation files I have saved on my work computer that I have already sketched out quite a bit of this presentation over the summer!! I am looking forward to reconnecting to this and getting it out there.

The "How To Series" I am going to start now will outline the steps I think we all need to consider in an effort to make leadership more inclusive. These five steps are...

1. Deconstruct Leadership Prerequisites that we create
2. Restructure Leadership Systems
3. Articulate the Value of Additional Leadership Voices
4. Commit to process orientated leadership
5. Redefine Leadership

Earlier in the blog, I wrote something about deconstructing leadership prerequisites. It was a while ago, so I encourage you to follow the link and reconnect with it or read it for the first time! Let me know what you think!

Enjoy!
